Jensen's Man

So today I'm sitting at my desk eating my boring 'ol salad and sugar free chocolate pudding as per usual, and decide to also keep up my routine of checking on the child to see how she's doing before she gets put down for her vicious snooze. Today I checked in much earlier than usual and I'm so glad!!!! Much to my utter delight I see Ms. Amanda holding Jensen's "boyfriend" Garrett up to the camera and see that the saying on his t-shirt had been altered for my entertainment. Look carefully at Garrett's t-shirt in the photo below.I was laughing so hard, and just had to call and tell them I actually got to see it. I also wanted to thank them for making my day. After I called they held Garrett up again then held Jensen up for me too. Unfortunately we didn't get the best shot of Jensen but anyhoo.....here's Garrett's woman.....Footnote: That's Ms. Lauren on the phone in the background talking to and laughing with yours truly.

Fountain Follies

We took Jensen to "her" fountains at Starbuck's again this past weekend. And like all other times she managed to get soaked and ended up in the uberwarm Eddie Bauer car blankie being cuddled by Daddy. All in all it was a good time for everyone....Mom and Dad got Starbuck's Cafe Americanos and Jensen got a chocolate chunk cookie and a shower. ; )

Watching You

Today I feel like I'm living Rodney Atkins country song "Watching You" particularly the following verse and first line of the Chorus....
"Well, then my 4 year old said a 4 letter word
It started with “S” and I was concerned
So I said, 'Son, now where’d you learn to talk like that?'
Chorus:
He said, I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that kool?........."

Jensen's teacher, Ms. Lauren, called this afternoon to tell me that our cute little toddler girl was playing with a toy, dropped it, and when she dropped it said "oh shit". Ms. Lauren said Jensen said it and then went on about her business like nothing had happened. Oh but we should be proud that she used the phrase in context right? ; ) I of course joked and said she must have gotten that word from Dad. But seriously...I did tell her that although we try to be really careful either one of us may have slipped up.

And this week she has been the BIGGEST sponge so is repeating everything and saying all kinds of new words that she's hearing. She's also been really into her Baby Einstein Wordsworth video and started saying all kinds of words from it like kitchen, couch, lamp, bed, pillow, home, etc........I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure the word "shit" is not in the Wordsworth video.

Now Mom and Dad will be watching what they say even closer and correcting her pronunciation of the word "shoot" if we hear her say "it". And we won't be adding this word to her ever growing vocabulary list!!

1-2-3 Like a Bird I Sing....

'cause you've given me the most beautiful set of wings. In case you haven't heard this latest Tim McGraw song I'm here to tell you it is awesome!!!! And in one of the versions being played on the radio he has his 3 little girls singing with him at the end. Priceless! Even more priceless is my little girl singing along. She loves this song and when it comes on the radio she gets very giggly and sings along and does the motions we made up together. And when it's over she says "mooooooore?" So I guess I better invest in the CD so we can play it over and over. Oh darn...listening to Tim over and over why must life be so hard? ; )

Transition Time Part Deux

Ok we've managed to buy Lowdies some time. The Director of daycamp asked Jensen's teacher how the parents of the transitioning toddlers felt about it and Ms. Lauren said "well the twins' Mom is excited, but Jensen's Mom not so much". So the Director said that they'll let her stay put for 3 to 4 more weeks. : ) Yay!!!!!!!!! And she may get to transition with her Abrakadoodle Twosy Doodlers pal Arabelle. Now she'll know 4 kiddos in the big kids' room when she gets there (Katia, Hannah, Harrison, and Arabelle).

St. Paddy's Day Date

Looks like Mom and Dad get to go celebrate the 12th Anniversary of their very memorable second date on St. Patrick's Day!!!! Lauren, one of the girls next door, has to do a community service project for her English class and she chose babysitting and chose Jensen. : ) So she has to do an hour of freebie community service work and then we were going to ask her to do an additional hour so we can pay her anyway. ; ) We're just trying to figure out what to do to commemorate this event as what we did that night was went to a friend's SPD party and that friend no longer lives here and now that none of us crazies from UNM are single or young we probably couldn't party like that anymore anyway.

Happy St. Paddy's Day!!!

Transition Time Again

We were notified yesterday that it's time for Jensen to transition from the Toddler room to the Early Preschool room. Sniff, sniff.....bittersweet as she will have a blast, but is growing up way too fast. And they didn't give us much notice as they're starting her transition Monday, March 19 and completing it by Friday, March 23...yep next week! Thank goodness she enjoys playing with older kids and she is transitioning with two of her friends...but too bad one of them is a little stinker.

On the health front....her double ear infection is clearing up quite nicely. Yay that she has ear tubes so it didn't affect her the way they used to, but when the ear tubes work their magic all that gunk and junk has to go somewhere! Needless to say Mommy had a panic attack when she first discovered all this gunk and junk including blood on her sheet. Called the doc right away and they called in an Rx ear drop and said her ear tubes were working like they're supposed to and the drops should clear her up in 7-10 days. So we had an everybody-mostly-healthy weekend for a change. : )

And Oscar went for his free physical therapy consultation and it was a waste of time as they could have told Troy over the phone about the one stretch they gave him to do. But instead Troy had to take time away from work, pack up the hobble dog, drive all the way to Southlake to have a 15 minute conversation with the physical therapist!!! Good thing she was nice otherwise Troy may have said what he thought. She did notice however that he was swollen so we have to back off the length of the walks again and put a hot compress on him. I put a thing on him last night...one of those things with beads in it that heat up in the microwave and he was in heaven. Fell asleep with that on his leg and Mom petting him. So I guess we'll be doing that everynight for awhile too.

"First" Name = Jensen

Woohoo!!!!!!! We actually have a confirmed instance of Mom and Dad witnessing a "first" of Jensen's!!!!!! (Confirmed with Ms. Lauren and Ms. Amanda at daycamp today.) Last night I was pointing at the photo below of us and asked Jensen who each person was. When I pointed to me she of course said "Mom" which isn't a new thing. But when I pointed to her she actually said "Jensen". I was like omg! omg! omg! Troy she just said her name!!!!!! Then I of course made her do it again. ; ) I was double excited when it was confirmed that we got to witness a "first" for a change instead of her teachers. : )

On the health front.....Jensen is all but over the nasty cold she had over the weekend and for Friday's exclusion from daycamp. She is very tired though as we gave her daytime cough meds too close to naptime and therefore there was NO naptime yesterday! She was wired like Beavis as Cornholio!!

The Great Interpreter

Two or three years ago when I would talk to my niece McKenna on the phone I would be totally amazed at my sister for knowing exactly what she was saying even though it sounded like she was speaking jabber walky. I always hoped that when I became a Mom I would have the same talent for interpreting and decoding what my toddler was saying for others.

Guess what????? I've got it...the talent...I've got it! I'm amazed at myself sometimes when I decode Jensen's jabber walky!!! Daddy is getting better and better at it, but I just flat out rock! Must be a Mommy thing.

The latest few interpretations......she was sitting on the deck and patting the spot beside her saying "chair" and looking at Daddy. I was like duh!! She wants you to sit next to her Troy! He went and sat next to her and she was thrilled. Then last night when the neighbor girls came over to play again they were pushing her in her swing and she pointed to the swings next to her and said "weeeeeeee". I told Natalie and Madeline that I thought she wanted them to swing with her and sure enough she was delighted! Last night at dinner she was pointing to the kitchen and saying some word that started with an "s". Daddy thought she wanted him to put SpongeBob on and Mommy was like um she wants a spoon. Daddy went and got her a spoon and she was pleased.

Everyday I await my next interpretation opportunity with delight. : )
